Paleo – Day 7 update and Class @ Excel Gymnastics
by ZombieFit on Oct.18, 2010, under Classes
Today is the 7th day I’ve been on the Paleo diet and I have lost 6.5 lbs to date. Unlike the last time I went strict paleo, I didn’t really have an unpleasant adjustment period (headaches, cold-like symptoms) and transitioned from eating crap pretty seamlessly. I’m sure the majority of this weight loss is still water-weight, but I’ve noticed that I have lost a couple of inches off of my waist.
I have also introduced intermittent fasting into my diet. I fast from 9p.m. to about 11:30a.m. (give or take 30 minutes). I eat a light meal of protein (about 4-6 oz) and some complex carbs (usually not more than an apple or some strawberries) just prior to working out at noon. Then I follow my workout with a larger Paleo meal. The important thing I’ve noticed here is to make sure that I get the proper amount of calories during my eating window. I do not over-eat when breaking my fast, nor do I eat extra before starting my fast.
We’ll see how it goes from here.
We have class at Excel Gymnastics today starting at 8:30p.m.
Come out for introductory parkour training and some wicked conditioning!
Cost: 10$

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK WE WILL HAVE CLASS AT EXCEL GYMNASTICS AS IT IS CLOSING.
We are in the process of looking for another location, quite possibly Excel’s sister gym in Batavia. We’ll keep everyone updated as we work through the details.

Hey Rich, I just wanted to share something I saw on wired, about Paleo:

I know you’re not taking Paleo too strictly, but I figured the info couldn’t hurt.

Hey Shin! Thanks for the comment and the link. That is a real interesting article and it definitely raises some issues regarding “paleolithic diet” in that we might need to come up with a new name.
My personal opinion is that the premise behind the diet still stands as if you add an additional 10 to 30 thousand years on to the time period that we were eating grains, then it still most likely did not have a noticeable effect on the evolution of our metabolism and gi tract. But, I’m not a nutritionist or evolutionary biologist (however, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night).
