Jumping Pull Ups

A jumping pull up is performed by positioning youself directly below the pull up bar. Make sure that you can reach the pull up bar from a standing position. Just as with regular pull ups, you must put your chin over the top of the bar. The difference is that you’re using your legs to propel your body to that top position. A good example of a jumping pull up can be found in the following video from CrossFit:

As in the video, the key is to have your body complete the same range of motion as if doing a real pull up. When you come down from the top of the movement, push yourself under the bar so that your arms are fully extended. Use your arms to pull you over the bar. Don’t let your legs do all the work :).
